Chicago Sky trade Angel Reese to Atlanta Dream

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has been traded to the Atlanta Dream as WNBA free agency opened on Monday, multiple reports state. The deal, first reported by broadcaster Taylor Rooks, sends Chicago first-round draft picks in 2027 and 2028. The transaction marks one of the offseason's initial major moves after the league and players' union reached a new collective bargaining agreement.

The Sky selected Reese in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft from LSU, where she won a national championship. Chicago has missed the playoffs in each of her two seasons, during which the team cycled through two head coaches.

Reese averaged 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds in 34 games as a rookie, earning All-Star honors, a runner-up finish in Rookie of the Year voting and one MVP vote. In her second season, she appeared in 30 games and posted 14.7 points and 12.6 rebounds per game.

Atlanta finished last season with the WNBA's best record at 30-14 but lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Indiana Fever. The Dream face free agency decisions involving Allisha Gray, Brittney Griner, Jordin Canada and Brionna Jones, while Rhyne Howard enters restricted free agency.
