Kickstarter suspends crowdfunding campaign for book profiling 'Save Women's Sports' activists

The crowdfunding platform Kickstarter has suspended a campaign for the book "She Handled It," authored by Arwen Becker, which was set to feature interviews with activists from the "Save Women's Sports" movement, including Riley Gaines, Jennifer Sey, Paula Scanlan, Brooke Slusser, Payton McNabb, Stephanie Turner, Selina Soule and Kaitlynn Wheeler.[1][2]

The project's page on Kickstarter currently displays a "suspended" status.[2]

Arwen Becker told Fox News Digital that Kickstarter informed her the suspension occurred due to "strong evidence" of violating the platform's rules, specifically citing "hateful or offensive content that fails to meet Kickstarter's spirit of inclusivity by promoting discrimination, bigotry or intolerance toward marginalized groups."[1]

Becker has relocated the campaign to GiveSendGo, a Christian-owned alternative crowdfunding platform.[1][3]

Fox News Digital sought comment from Kickstarter but received no response.[1]

Becker stated the suspension and subsequent online reaction have increased attention to the project, describing it as having "definitely helped" and drawing support from those upset by the decision.[1]

The interviewees are prominent figures advocating for sex-based categories in women's sports. Riley Gaines is a former University of Kentucky swimmer who tied for fifth place with Lia Thomas at the 2022 NCAA Division I Championships.[4] Jennifer Sey is a former U.S. national team gymnast and author.[5]
