Boston Scott announces retirement from NFL after six seasons

Running back Boston Scott, who spent most of his six-year NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles, announced his retirement on Wednesday via social media.[1]

Scott, listed at 5-foot-6, played college football at Louisiana Tech University in Conference USA before the Eagles selected him in the sixth round (201st overall) of the 2018 NFL Draft.[2][3]

Over 71 games with the Eagles (12 starts), Scott rushed for 1,295 yards and 10 touchdowns. He earned the nickname "Giants Killer" for strong performances against NFC East rival New York Giants, including a 34-yard fumble return touchdown in the Eagles' 31-15 wild-card playoff win over New York on January 16, 2021.[2][4]

In 2023, Scott appeared in the Super Bowl LVII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, carrying three times for 7 yards. He also returned kickoffs and punts earlier in his career.[2]

Scott did not play in a regular-season game after the 2023 campaign. He joined the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad in October 2024 before signing to the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad in November 2024.[2][5]

In his retirement statement, the 29-year-old Scott reflected on his journey from a college walk-on to the NFL, expressing gratitude to coaches, teammates and family.[1]

Off the field, Scott has worked as a content creator with esports organization Dignitas.[6]
